A Courageous Life

Bob Deeble died a few days ago (Wednesday August 4)

I don't know much about his life.

I remember him when he was hailer and hardier here in Idyllwild, hiking and conversing with a wide group of friends.

What I know of him best however was when he became bedridden with MS and Local Color got the privilege of coming to sing to him. This is what I noticed.
He kept his heart open.
He had times when he was strong and times when he was weak.
In the end, judging from our last visit with him, his mind stayed active, always alert to the truth.
He continued to "question authority" even when his capacity to maintain the dialogue had been taken away from him by the indignities of his disease and his situation.
He did not complain and he did not get angry about where his body was in this lifetime.

To me he is courageous because it takes such patience and endurance to live this way. He is courageous to trust that even though there might be worse to come, that he can face today with equanimity.
I would love to hear other peoples' thoughts and feelings about this friend of ours.
I pray that his soul is traveling to wherever it is going in peace and comfort.
I send much love to his family members. I trust that they feel in touch with Bob.
What an honor to serenade him .

just a thought about technology

I wish I could just sing to my computer and it would respond by opening up the desired page- wouldn't that be nice?
Maybe we need a personal song - as a rite of passage - to remember our user names and our passwords. Like fetishes and familiars that carry our spirits.
